Devita has offered to host a face to face meeting in lieu of the September 18th conference call.
It was great speaking with everyone on our last call. Over the past few years have you all noticed a significant number of kitchen incubators opening around the country? I have. I know there's nothing really new about the kitchen incubator—the model has been around for over fifty years. But with the downturn in the economy, especially in hard hit industrial cities within our region, it seems as though more are creeping into our urban fabric. That's why I'm thrilled that we are coming together, as a Midwest Incubator Kitchen Collaborative, sharing ideas/resources, connecting people/organizations interested and invested in sharing our respective models and our approaches to culinary micro-enterprise development.
I hope you can all make it! With the ultimate goal of building capacity in our communities, not only do our meetings serve as a springboard for future conversation and collaborations but ultimately to share resources so that we may effectively serve and empower emerging food businesses. Many of our kitchen tenants are just getting started and have the dream of one day spinning off to create their own, stable businesses in our communities with greater success, let our working together contribute to dissolving the boundaries that can make it difficult to start food businesses and grow within them.
In replace of the call on September 18th, I'm looking forward to seeing you all on September 30th.
