LOCAL FOOD AS AN ECONOMIC DRIVER

August 4th, 2:00-5:00pm

Cleveland Food Bank

15500 S. Waterloo Rd, Cleveland

As the major population center in Northeast Ohio, how can Cleveland and Cuyahoga County stimulate market opportunities in the local food economy, improving access to food, new entrepreneurial opportunities, and expanded markets for rural and urban producers?

Get the latest updates on Michael Shuman’s (author of Going Local and co-founder of Business Alliance for Local Living Economies) analysis of opportunities to connect local food systems with regional economic development and participate in interactive conversations to identify how we can turn our regional assets into opportunities in the local food economy.

This event is a part of the Northeast Ohio Local Food Assessment and Plan process. We encourage anyone who is involved with efforts to grow local food systems, whether you are a farmer, an economic development practitioner, or a business owner to join our virtual think-tank and on-line community at www.neofoodweb.org  This will provide you with access to resources and case studies of innovative work across the Northeast Ohio region as well as an opportunity to provide feedback and perspectives on how we can best scale-up local food activities in the region. To become a part of our on-line community, you can join an affinity group that best represents your role in the local food economy.
