Cleveland has a strong and diverse culinary tradition. In order to expand on this tradition, as well as encourage small business growth and sustainable business practices, activate public spaces, promote local artists, and facilitate the availability of healthy local food options, the City of Cleveland looks to establish a Sustainable Street Food Pilot Program. Partners include the City, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Public Art, Charter One Bank and PlayhouseSquare.

Based on the goals outlined in the Food Cart Application on the City of Cleveland site, a Food Cart Selection Committee will determine if a potential vendor will be admitted to the Sustainable Street Food Pilot Program on a "first come, first serve" basis. Successful applicants may receive up to a $5000 favorable loan and $2500 grant to get their carts up and running. The deadline to be considered in the next round of evaluation is July 25, 2010.
