Sustainable Cleveland 2019 is a 10-year initiative that engages people from all walks of life, working together to design and develop a thriving and resilient Cleveland region that leverages its wealth of assets to build economic, social and environmental well-being for all.

 

4TH ANNUAL SUSTAINABILITY SUMMIT

On September 20-21st, 2012, Sustainable Cleveland 2019 will host the 4th Annual Sustainability Summit at Cleveland Public Auditorium. Sustainable Cleveland 2019 was founded in 2009 by Mayor Frank G. Jackson to build an economic engine to empower a green city on a blue lake. The ten-year initiative creates a framework for Clevelanders from all walks of life to work together to build a thriving and resilient Cleveland region.

Reporting Progress: Mayor Jackson hosts an Annual Sustainability Summit to report progress to the community, create an agenda for the future and co-create our sustainable future. Each year leading up to 2019, Cleveland will have a sustainability Celebration Year. 2012 is the Year of Local Foods and 2013 will be the Year of Advanced and Renewable Energy.

Summit Topics & Agenda: The Summit will have a two tracks:One focused on the current Celebration Year--Local Foods and the other on the upcoming Celebration Year-- Advanced and Renewable Energy.

Thursday, September 20th

Thursday Morning: The focus will be on reporting and celebrating progress in all aspects of sustainability including a keynote presentation to all summit attendees.

Thursday Afternoon: Summit attendees will choose one of two tracks: Local Foods or Advanced and Renewable Energy. Both tracks will focus on accelerating momentum and taking action to create a sustainable economy and will include topic specific panel presentations. 

Friday, September 21st

Friday Morning: Concurrent working sessions on Local Foods and Advanced and Renewable Energy. Participants will design and plan for implementation.

Friday Afternoon: Participants will reconvene as a large group and report-out. There will aslo be a closing Keynote presentation. 

 

Additional Information: The Summit is a unique opportunity to work across sectors, foster collaboration, learn about recent innovations and to design the future of the Cleveland region.

There is a $40 registration fee which helps to cover some of the catering and supply costs of the Summit.
