Today's Ohio Agnet digital newsletter featured a report from the AFBF annual meeting where Wayne County was recognized for its Animal Agricultural Education Kiosk effort. In addition, a youtube video clip in the sidebar includes the robotic milking system of Wayne County Dairy Farmers Dean and Doug Horst. If you dig deeper, Rehm's 100 bushel soybeans was the #2 video of 2012.

From the Doodle poll it looks like December 7th is a good day and 1 to 3 PM a good time for our organizing meeting.  If we are close enough we can meet face to face.  I'm located near Oberlin, Brian is in Wooster, Bob is in Mansfield.  Tracy are you in Peninsula?  Megan are you in Youngstown.  Maybe we could meet in Akron.  What do you think?

Non-GMO Feed to Farmer Members,

Last week, you should have received an invitation to a workspace for this project which will provide file sharing, task management and mapping capabilities. The link in the email should provide you access or go to your localfood system.org dashboard and the opportunity to accept should appear in a box on the lower right. If you run into issues, please let me know.

Brian

Hi all, I'm gently nudging the conversation about getting together back to the localfoodsystems.org group (just click the link in the message, check to see that you're logged in, and you're ready to reply), only because it will be seen by more interested folks than just those on the email and maybe enlist a bit more participation and help.  For example, Brian Gwin has been feeding some useful information and events and Traci may know of some IFO members who'd be interested in getting involved.

Plans for continuing work with students, community members, and food service personnel in Youngstown are outlined below (and in the YoungstownEatsMoreLocal document).  I will also compile results, quotes, and photos for an article.

If you know of a journal or publication that may be interested, let me know.  Thanks!  Meagan Tehua

Project expenses from Jan 2012 through Nov 8, 2012 are detailed in the Phase I excel spreadsheet.  The general breakdown is here:

I'm just checking in on the "Real Food, Real Local, Real Good Institute" project proposed at the 6th Annual Stinner Summit.  Natalie Woodroofe has arranged to have Leslie Schaller help coordinate the financial support via ACEnet, but of course all of you can help support the project.  We have gone over the procedures with the OARDC Business Office and I think we're ready to make the funds flow.  Let us know what the status and plans are and if we can help in some way we'll try to make it happen.

Best wishes for your work,

I'm just checking in on the "College Farm to Institution" project proposed at the 6th Annual Stinner Summit.  As you've seen Greg Hitzhusen has offered to help coordinate the financial support, but of course all of you can help support the project.  We have gone over the procedures with the OARDC Business Office and I think we're ready to make the funds flow.  Let us know what the status and plans are and if we can help in some way we'll try to make it happen.

I'm just checking in on the "Farm to School Revival" project proposed at the 6th Annual Stinner Summit.  Matt at Rural Action (matt@ruralaction.org) was on our list as the one who could manage the fiscal side of this via Rural Action, and we'll need to get him subscribed here.  We have gone over the procedures with the OARDC Business Office and I think we're ready to make the funds flow.  Let us know what the status and plans are and if we can help in some way we'll try to make it happen.

Best wishes for your work,

I'm just checking in on the "No Empty Trucks" project proposed at the 6th Annual Stinner Summit.  Nathan Hilbert has offered to be a point person on this project and because he's right here in our office, the $300 awarded to the project is accessible to him.  Let us know what the status and plans are and if we can help in some way we'll try to make it happen.

Best wishes for your work,

Casey

Greetings, we'll use this group to check in from time to time to see how the project is going and to give you a way to stay in touch and work with each other.  It's open for others to join, and you may want to invite folks who would likely be interested in helping with this project.  In fact, one of your goals was to create a national network, and this site is just that, international in fact.

Best, Casey
