Tuscarwas County could use a "local foods" boost!

Anyone else involved in local agriculture/sustainability here in T-County interested in once again getting the "local foods sustainability network" up and running again? The group was launched, but follow-up meetings were never scheduled by the initial organizers - although one of those groups lost their funding last year, admittedly. A big frustration is the lack of interest in T-County in heirlooms or willingness to purchase these at the local markets! Any comments on this?

Maybe try again and cast a wider net. Invite the same people, but add some other interests -- health department (for the nutrition/public-health ange, but also food-safety), Chamber of Commerce (local foods as a business), the county (RPC director Jill Lengler, I think, would be receptive), businesses (such as restaurants that source locally). Other counties have had some luck with this approach. Fairfield is a good example. Here is a copy of a plan I worked on two years ago for the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission:
